Who? (Wha?)

here's a picture of little baby sous chef me cooking at the James Beard House in 2010; it will forever be one of the coolest things I've ever done.

Hey there! Thanks for stopping by.

I'm Nate. I live with my wife and dogs outside of Chicago - during the day (and let's be honest, a lot of nights), I'm an independent strategic consultant for CPG companies. During other nights (and some days - I know, it's confusing), I sit on the couch with my dogs and make zines about a wide variety of topics that interest me. Sometimes people buy them.

My first project was the Line Cook Activity Book, which was a fun little creative thing to do when I was bored of recipe testing, and growing tired of listening to another overloaded restaurant owner complain that the special they’d casually suggested to their chef two hours ago wasn’t selling. I needed another outlet to vent on this love-hate relationship I’ve always had with the business, and I’ve always been a fan of those books you buy at gas stations full of crosswords, logic puzzles, and pen-and-paper games. I publish bi-monthly; take a look at the Line Cook Activity Book here.

I still do menu and product lineup consulting through my food arm Flight Culinary, and work with emerging CPG businesses on strategy and efficiency with my company Flight CPG. If you're here to chat about either of those, welcome; please head over to my contact page to send me a note, or email me at (nate) @ (line)(cook)(activity)(book)(dot)(com) (can the robots read parentheses yet? who knows. anyways, that, no parentheses, no spaces.).

Like a unicorn, I'm off to spread magic in other places,

Nate
